White Cattle Ranch
Spring is sure an awesome time to be in the Fresno County foothills. It was also the perfect time to fly my drone over the White Cattle Ranch near Dunlap for Pearson Realty.
Spring is sure an awesome time to be in the Fresno County foothills. It was also the perfect time to fly my drone over the White Cattle Ranch near Dunlap for Pearson Realty a couple of weeks ago.
This place was made for post card images. We were even lucky enough to spot a cowboy and his girlfriend taking a ride on their horses along the ridge. The afternoon light and clear skies added to the beauty.
Check out the video below and you'll see what I mean. This would be an awesome place to build a dream home and retire. Some lucky buyer may just get that chance.

Attorneys' Office Photos
[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ere's a story of how small Fresno really is - or even the world for that matter. I got a call recently from a woman named Chelsea who asked if I could do her attorneys' office photos. I said "of course", and then when I asked about further information about her company I realized that I knew one of the partners. Toni Lerandeau of Lerandeau & Lernandeau in Fresno and I had been friends for a few years but she didn't know that I was running a side photography business.
While working for the Bee she contacted me about photographing kids at her son's school who would be putting flags out on veterans' graves for Memorial Day. I didn't have much going on that day so I went out and made some nice photos of the class putting the flags out including Toni's son. After chatting I realized I used to work with Toni's sister at the last paper I worked at. Tonya was also a photographer and was doing an internship at the Appeal-Democrat in Marysville. Well that was amazing to both of us and we remained friends and stayed loosely in touch for the past few years.
That's when Chelsea called. So I gave her my proposal and was happy to find out Toni and her husband Paul Lerandeau had said that they chose me to their attorney's office photos including head shots and group shots. We had some fun doing those photos in the lobby of their Fresno office. I set up lights to work with the cool backdrop art they had there right in the lobby. We even did a nice image of Paul in a chair looking like the Godfather.

The Ultimate Man Cave
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]'ve been working with Monster City Studios for a little while now documenting a project the creatives there refer to as simply "the man cave." They've also called it an Indiana Jones-themed adult recreation center or the Temple of Vroom. I call it amazing. Complete with pool tables, shuffle boards, arcade games, a full bar sprawling below a military jeep creeping along a rope bridge, a giant Buddha head and DJ stage, a pyramid temple and facade's of quaint villages from third world countries, this is a big kid's dream. All this tucked away in a nondescript warehouse in the middle of Fresno. I'm told it belongs to a Fresno businessman who will use it for family parties and special private engagements and fundraisers. How do I get on that guest list?! Anyway, it's quite a remarkable sight. Monster City designed and constructed all of the 3D pieces that surround the warehouse; most of it milled from Styrofoam and hard-coated with polyurea. You've probably seen other pieces of their work at Chukchansi Park and the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Professional Portraits for Vivian Kim, MD
[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ere are some commercial portraits I did for a doctor starting her new practice in Fresno. She is an ophthalmologist who will have her own website and blog so she needed a number of professional images with different outfit changes. We did them all at her home using my backdrop as well as some environmental backgrounds.
Play.Create.Grow
I recently did a commercial photography shoot for a cool children's books and activities company in Fresno called Play.Create.Grow. The company is having their website done by my friends at Nettra Marketing.
On one day, we photographed the books and products at the company's office in Fresno. Then on a second day, we took a bunch of kids to Woodward Park and a residence to show how kids can use the books and products to be active and imaginative in their play. In addition to these photos, I also did a little introductory video that will play in the background of their site. I can't wait to see the final product
As I said, this looks to be a very cool company with a lot of good ideas. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of Play.Create.Grow in the near future.
Video website production: Play.Create.Grow
I recently began doing some limited video website production for marketing clients in Fresno. This is among the first, which was done through Nettra Digital Marketing for Play.Create.Grow, a children's books and activities company in Fresno. This will become a background video that will run on the company's website without sound. Apparently, it's a popular effect for a lot of company websites. Since I have been doing so much video journalism for The Bee, I'm hoping to use that expertise to expand my business in offering video production. For this video we spend part of a day in Woodward Park and a home in Fresno photographing kids either reading books or participating in activities or crafts that are based on products from the local children's book company. In the end I think we did a pretty good job with this. I'm sure the effect will be quite eye-catching on their site. I can't wait to see it when it goes live.Below is the Play.Create.Grow video, which was edited and produced by Nettra Digital Marketing in Fresno.
JULIA Boutique
[dropcap]J[/dropcap]ULIA Boutique is a jewelry and accessories store located at the River Park Shopping Center. They recently asked me to do some boutique photography of the merchandise in their store as well as the store location itself to help gets some online traction through shoptiques.com.I always think it's a smart move for store owners to get professional photography for their stores to help make their merchandise really stand out. Professional business photography will provide images with clear, sharp focus and good lighting and give them a professional edge. It's worth it to spend a few bucks because viewers who see quality photography will be more inclined to click and potentially buy. While it's always a great idea for businesses to use professionally designed marketing and websites, the single most important part of presenting your business online is going to be the photography. You can even have a sharp, well-designed website with professional copy writing and slick features, but poorly lit or blurry photography will turn people off right at the get-go.I can totally understand why some business owners would prefer to go with "Uncle Bob" to do their photography. He needs something to do, right? And you can't beat free. But the problem is, is that the Canon Rebel he got for Christmas isn't going to cut it. You need professional cameras with high megapixel output to produce high level images. And beyond that, you have to have lenses, lighting and a creative eye to make those images pop. You're only going to get that from a professional photographer. The shop owners at JULIA Boutique at River Park had the forethought to hire a professional for their boutique photography because they know what's going to attract business. I hope JULIA sees some quick rewards from their decision to do so.
Dumont Printing
[dropcap]M[/dropcap]y first of many (hopefully!) Fresno commercial photography shoots for Nettra Digital Marketing was of the Dumont Printing Company. Basically any complex printing jobs in the area are all done right here at Dumont - and many go all over the country too. It's quite an operation, printing on everything from four-color programs to cups and banners. It's quite an amazing place and I was happy to help show off their work and their workers with some good photography for their website.
Sebastian Corp. Sales Staff Headshots
[dropcap]H[/dropcap]eadshots for the sales staff at Sebastian Corp. in Fresno. Nice bunch of people. I enjoyed meeting them and I'm really thankful for my pal Tanya for getting me out there for the shoot.
Tulare Library
[dropcap]R[/dropcap]ecently I did some architectural photography for Paul Halajian Architects in Fresno. I was hired to shoot the exteriors and interiors of the Tulare Public Library, which was designed by PHA and opened in 2010. The firm was looking to update their website with some new images. I thought it would be good to get daylight photos but also some in twilight to show off some of the cool lighting around the facility. Because it was fall, I was able to work in the nice color in the trees and got lucky with the weather. This was a fun one to work on and I'm hoping to do a few more like it. I love looking at cool architecture around the Valley.
BevMo!
[dropcap]C[/dropcap]overed the opening of the new Clovis BevMo! store last November. It was interesting to see how many people were willing to get up so early for the opening. I guess free beer and champagne tasting was a pretty good lure. The opening appeared to be a great success and fun to see that it was 150th store. Also good to see success from a Bay Area company - back in my old stomping grounds. :)
