My family sessions are done in what is referred to as “lifestyle” photographic style. I photograph families spending time together in relaxed, real-life situations instead of still, posed portraits. I will often pose a family together to get everyone smiling in what can make nice pictures too, but the focus of my sessions are to capture real moments that may become important and telling moments about everyone in the family.
I feel that my experience as a photojournalist has fostered my ability in this area to allow for exceptional work and meaningful photography that will become priceless memories in your home.
Senior Portraits
High school senior photos are done similarly to my family portraiture. I photograph seniors in places they are familiar with or like to visit and use a variety of backgrounds and natural poses to try and best capture their personalities. When possible, it’s nice to have a prop like a favorite book, musical instrument or sports ball along for telling pictures.
What to Wear
Subtle patters and light shades of color are best for portraits. For family sessions I recommend wearing complimentary colors rather than exact matching. My preference would be to avoid all white, all black or any strong graphics or logos that would pull attention away from the subject – you!
